We’ve now begun the first full week of November, which means that our days will gradually become even colder and shorter.
Peterborough enjoyed a largely settled second half of October, with plenty of sunshine and above-average temperatures.
With winter edging closer, many of us begin wondering when the city’s weather will really take a turn.

As you might expect, rumours of November snowfall have already started doing the rounds on social media.
Seemingly with every scroll we’re being warned to brace for ‘snow bombs’ and ‘arctic blasts’ over the coming weeks.
Snowfall during November is rare - particularly in Peterborough - but a significant drop in temperatures, overnight frosts and the arrival of colder air from the north could potentially create the conditions needed for a few flurries.
As we begin the first full week of November, we’ve taken a closer look at what forecasters are predicting for Peterborough over the coming month.
Could Peterborough be in for an early taste of winter?
Peterborough can expect daytime highs of between 10C and 12C over the coming week, which is around the average for this time of year.
Overnight temperatures will drop to a chilly 4C towards the end of the week, but there are currently no signs of any frosts or sub-zero temperatures on the way.
Spells of rain are likely during the second week of the month as Atlantic weather systems become more influential.
The second half of November, however, could bring more changeable weather.
The Met Office’s long range forecast, which covers the period between November 16 and November 30, indicates that there is a potential for “spells of rain and the potential for strong winds” during these two weeks.
Colder weather could develop during the final week of the month, creating the possibility of frosts and icy conditions.
“Temperatures are likely to be near or above average for much of the period, although colder interludes remain possible, perhaps more especially later in the period,” the forecast adds.
For now Peterborians shouldn’t need to dust off their sleds, but the potential for colder weather towards the end of the month remains a distinct possibility.
