Calls for speed control measures after car overturns on Peterborough residential street
Calls have been made for improved safety measures on a residential street in Peterborough after another serious crash on Sunday evening (February 1).
On Sunday evening, police attended Dogsthorpe Road to find a two vehicle collision where one had overturned onto its roof.
Fortunately both drivers were uninjured and a police spokesperson was able to confirm: “We were called at 8.41pm last night to reports of a two-vehicle collision in Dogsthorpe Road. Officers attended and assisted with vehicle recovery; no injuries were sustained.”
Residents have raised concerns about the number of incidents on the stretch of road though, citing a number of previous incidents.

In May 2025, a man suffered serious injuries in an incident on Elmfield Road – which leads off from Dogsthorpe Road and the following a month a car ploughed into a garden wall.
Among those residents is Khalil Ramatally. He said: “I have been living in Dogsthorpe Road for 20 years and have witnessed a lot of accidents and people speeding down there. People think it is a highway from Alexandra Road as there is a straight stretch.
“There is a lot of concern, we see people speeding all the time and there is a school right next door. I have seen people going through red lights and I don’t want to think what could happen if they did that at the wrong time.
“Something needs to be done, I would like to see average speed cameras put there.
