Second week of searches for missing Peterborough teenager Bernadette begins

Police searches for a missing Peterborough teenager have entered a second week.

Bernadette Walker was last seen alive in July. Her parents have been charged with her murder.

Last Tuesday a huge police search operation was started, with officers searching land in Cowbit and garages in Churchfield Road, Walton, Peterborough, as they tried to find the 17-year-old, or find out what had happened to her.

Police divers were called in to search through the River Welland in Cowbit, while other officers scoured fields and hedges for any evidence.

Those searches continued today, although the investigations at the garages in Walton have now concluded.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said there was no other update to the search.

Bernadette’s parents, Sarah Walker (37) and Scott Walker (50), both of Century Square, Millfield appeared at Peterborough Crown Court via video link last Wednesday charged with her murder.

No pleas were entered, and a trial date was sent for March next year

Bernadette was reported missing by mum Sarah on July 21 after she had not been seen for three days.

Police are still appealing for information to try and find out what happened to her, with the appeal focussing on July 18 - when Bernadette was last seen alive.

When she went missing, she was described as medium build, her hair was half brown, half gingery blonde with a streak of pink. She has facial piercings and two homemade tattoos. She wears glasses and is around 5ft 6in.

Anyone with information that can help the investigation is asked to contact Cambridgeshire police on 101.
