Peterborough house set on fire after burning object thrown through window

A house in Peterborough caught fire after a burning object was thrown through a window.

The incident occurred in New Lakeside, Hampton Vale, in the early hours of Friday morning.

Police were called to the scene at 3.33am to reports of criminal damage, while forensics officers later attended.

A Cambridgeshire police spokeswoman said: “Officers attended the scene where it was reported that a stone had been thrown through the window of the house together with another object which was alight.

“The occupant of the house was able to extinguish the fire himself before officers arrived on scene, and there were no reported injuries.

“An investigation has been launched. Anyone with any information is asked to call police on 101 or report this online at www.cambs.police.uk/report quoting crime reference number 35/11324/20.”

Police did not have any more information on what the burning object was.

Officers returned to the area later on to carry out patrols.
