Peterborough Sports survived a second-half Hallowe'en scare to win, a first success in five for Spalding, but defeat for Stamford AFC
Leon Lobjoit scored twice as Peterborough Sports overcame a second-half Hallowe’en scare in their Southern Premier Division Central match at Leamington on Saturday.
Sports were coasting at 3-0 up at half-time against a team who had come down from National League North with them last season, but two goals in the first 15 minutes of the second-half brought the lowly hosts to within a goal of parity.

Thankfully Lobjoit was on hand to score his second goal of the game five minutes from time to seal a 4-2 win and lift Sports back up to sixth spot. They had dropped out of the play-off places last Tuesday when suffering a first defeat in 11 matches.
Michael Richens had opened the scoring from a Harry Vince corner on 13 minutes and Vince made it 2-0 on 24 minutes after accepting a smart pass from Jevani Brown. Brown then made it 3-0 with an unstoppable smack into the top corner before the interval.

But the home side quickly reduced the arrears in the second-half with former Stamford forward Kai Tonge one of those to score before Sports assumed control of the game again.
Lobjoit struck a post and he then netted from close range after a Harvey Williams strike had rebounded into his path.
It’s the big local derby next Saturday at PIMS Park (November 7) when Sports host rock-bottom Stamford AFC. ‘The Daniels’ failed to build on their first win of the season as they crashed to a 4-0 home loss to Halesowen Town today.
Stamford’s scheduled fixture against Southern Premier Division high fliers Bromsgrove Sporting next Tuesday (November 3) has been postponed because of floodlight issues at the Zeeco Stadium.
Spalding United claimed a first win in five National League North games after a thrilling tussle with struggling Darlington on Saturday.
‘The Tulips’ looked like dropping two points after leading 2-0 for the second game in a row when the visitors fought back to cancel out first-half goals from Dan Jarvis and Dan Barton.
But Barton found an 85th minute winner to move Spalding up to 11th.
