Peterborough entrepreneur launches global vision to connect businesses and communities
Peterborough entrepreneur Zillur Hussain MBE has outlined an ambitious vision to connect businesses across the world, strengthen community relationships and support the British economy through international trade and collaboration.
Mr Hussain, the founder and chairman of BizNet Global Awards, formally announced the initiative at a House of Commons reception on 20 October, attended by business representatives, community leaders and parliamentarians.
Held in association with Commonwealth Trade & Investment, the reception introduced plans for the 2027 awards and a wider international network bringing together entrepreneurs, established companies and emerging business talent.
Having worked with the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council over a number of years, Mr Hussain has seen the potential for British businesses to build stronger connections across Commonwealth markets. That experience has helped shape his ambition to make international business relationships more accessible, including for smaller companies seeking opportunities overseas.

He believes these connections can help businesses reach new customers, attract investment and develop partnerships that support jobs and growth in the British economy.
At the heart of BizNet is a straightforward purpose: to bring people from different countries together so they can share expertise, showcase their businesses and turn introductions into lasting commercial relationships.
For Peterborough, the ambition is to connect local enterprise with international opportunities while promoting the city’s talent, diversity and entrepreneurial spirit. The network aims to help local businesses meet overseas partners and encourage international businesses to explore opportunities in Britain.
Alongside its business focus, BizNet will recognise the contribution entrepreneurs and community leaders make through employment, mentoring, charitable work and support for others.

Mr Hussain’s vision reflects his belief that business growth and community wellbeing should go hand in hand, with success creating opportunities beyond individual companies.
The House of Commons announcement marks an early milestone in plans for the BizNet Global Awards 2027, which will culminate with a ceremony on April 15 next year at the NCC in Birmingham.
The event aims to bring together business and community figures from the UK and overseas, combining recognition of achievement with opportunities for networking, trade and collaboration.
Through BizNet, Mr Hussain hopes to build an enduring international network that opens doors for British businesses, strengthens connections between countries and brings lasting benefits to local communities.
