Driver jailed after man left injured when he was thrown out of a moving car in Peterborough

A driver has been jailed after a man was left injured when he was thrown from a moving car during a night out in Peterborough.

Police say that Patryk Medrala (28) was drinking with the victim and another man in the city centre, before moving on to pubs in Hampton and Orton on September 7.

“At the last pub, an argument broke out, before the three men and a woman got into a vehicle where the attack happened,” a Cambridgeshire police spokesperson said.

“A witness saw the victim, a man in his 20s, being thrown from the moving vehicle in Oundle Road, near Alwalton.

The spokesperson said: “Emergency services, including the air ambulance, attended the scene and the victim was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

“Medrala continued to drive the car towards the city centre, where he failed to stop for officers and a stinger was deployed in London Road.

“He was arrested, along with the other occupants of the car, and refused to take a roadside breath test.

“The victim was transferred to a specialist hospital where he underwent surgery for his broken jaw and received treatment for other injuries.”

Medrala, of Ward Close, Eastfield, Peterborough, admitted assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent, failing to stop for police and failure to provide a specimen for analysis.

He was jailed for three-and-a-half years and disqualified from driving for 33 months at Peterborough Crown Court,

DC Roberto Scialla-Cooper said: “To assault someone like this, throw them from a moving car and then abandon them is truly awful.

“I’m pleased Medrala was apprehended and has now been jailed for his shocking actions.”
