Looking Back: Farewell to Peterborough District Hospital
I took this image in 2015 of Peterborough District Hospital, which opened in 1969, being demolished, writes street photographer Chris Porsz.
PDH in Midland Road closed in October 2010 and all services moved to the new City Hospital at Bretton. The site is now a housing estate and West Town school.
Talking to friends and former colleagues who have worked in both hospitals they look back on the great advances in medicine and technology but also with great nostalgia and fond memories, when there was more time for patients and colleagues and less pressure in a much smaller community.
