Award-winning specialist neurological care provider, PJ Care, celebrated the achievements of its apprentices, highlighting the growing impact of apprenticeship programmes across the city.

The special event held at PJ Care’s Eagle Wood centre in Peterborough brought together apprentices, staff, and local education partners, along with guest Andrew Pakes, MP for Peterborough. After hearing apprentices share their experiences, Mr Pakes praised PJ Care’s commitment to developing local talent. “This is about lifelong learning. I’m really impressed that support of social care is in the DNA of PJ Care,” he said.

PJ Care currently has 57 apprentices - around 10 per cent of its workforce - training across nursing, IT, administration, health and social care, customer service, and business support. The organisation has become one of the region’s most active employers in supporting career development through apprenticeships.

Head of Training Alex Balicki, who organised the event, said: “National Apprenticeship Week is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the dedication of our apprentices and the invaluable contributions they make to our community.”

"Mr Whybrow highlighted the wider regional significance: “National Apprenticeship Week is a powerful opportunity to showcase the real impact apprenticeships are having across Peterborough. Visiting employers like PJ Care highlights the breadth of sectors investing in specialist healthcare skills.”

Shaun O’Gara, Director of Operations and Registered Manager at PJ Care, reinforced the organisation’s long‑term commitment to developing the local workforce, saying: “We have to prepare for the next generation.”
