A Burger King in Peterborough city centre has closed suddenly.

The chain located on the outside of the Queensgate Shopping Centre, opening out onto Long Causeway, has closed.

The development comes amidst continuing building work now well underway on a new chain at Boongate Retail Park in place of the former Frankie & Benny’s, which closed in 2023.

It will officially open at 10am on September 11.

Burger King has said that the new chain will create 25 jobs although it is not clear at this stage whether or not this is just staff being transferred between the two locations.

The new Burger King will be open 8am - Midnight (Drive-Thru) and 8am - 11pm (Dine-In) on every day other than opening day.

On opening day, 1,000 free Whopper, Plant-Based Whopper, Chicken Royale or Vegan Royale burgers will be given away to lucky customers.

Burger King has two other locations in Peterborough at Maskew Avenue and Serpentine Green Shopping Centre.
