Closing date confirmed for Hampton’s Brewers Fayre

It’s one of 197 Whitbread-owned restaurants closing over the coming weeks

Hampton’s Brewers Fayre is set to close its doors in early September after owner Whitbread announced plans to axe nearly 200 restaurants across the country.

The restaurant, in Ashbourne Road, Hampton, will close its doors on Monday, September 7.

Its website is still taking bookings up to September 7 for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

The closure of Hampton’s Brewers Fayre will come just three days before Peterborough’s Beefeater Granary closes its doors.

The restaurants are two of 197 Whitbread-owned sites closing their doors as part of a five-year plan to save £250 million.

Whitbread, which also owns hotel chain Premier Inn, plans to close all 197 of its standalone Beefeater, Brewers Fayre and Table Table restaurants.

As a result, the strategic shift will see food and drink operations integrated into Premier Inn hotels.

Under the restructure, Whitbread plans for some of its restaurants to be converted into Premier Inn hotel rooms

Back in April, Whitbread’s chief executive, Dominic Paul, said: ““We plan to convert all our remaining branded restaurants to an integrated food and beverage offer that is preferred by our hotel guests and will unlock the addition of more highly profitable extension rooms.

“Our continued efforts to drive our commercial plan and efficiencies will extend our market-leading position and allow us to take share from our competitors, many of which are struggling to grow.”
