Paul Morley has spent almost five decades writing about music, art and entertainment from Manchester magazines Penetration, Out There and Girl Trouble to NME and Blitz .

He was a founding member of the electronic collective Art of Noise, and co-founder of ZTT records who signed Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Grace Jones, 808 State and Seal. Paul was responsible for the label's marketing, pioneering the use of 12" remixes to prolong a single's life and the 'Frankie Says' slogan t-shirts which became a 1980s icon in their own right.

Paul is the author of the bestselling biography 'The Age of Bowie' and collaborated with music icon Grace Jones on her New York Times best selling memoir, 'I’ll Never Write My Memoirs'. His other books include biographies of Bob Dylan, Joy Division and Factory Records' Tony Wilson, plus a history of the north. He was an artistic advisor for the 'David Bowie Is' exhibition at the V&A.

Come and hear Paul in conversation about his latest book and second Bowie biography, 'Far Above the World - the Time and Space of David Bowie' in Oundle on Friday 27th February.

January 2026 saw a decade pass since Bowie's death. This anniversary book will place him in the now and next, as much as is past, and argue that his songs, messages, reflections and warnings become ever more relevant and compelling as time passes.

‘Insightful and vibrant, Far Above the World is a compelling reminder that Bowie’s influence didn’t end in 2016. Instead, it continues to illuminate the present and chart the path ahead.’ -The Voice
