Fenland potter Joe Perry will have to win one qualifying match to reach the World Snooker Championships at the Crucible later this month.

World number 20 Perry, who hails from Chatteris, could meet Jamie Clarke, a player who caused a first round shock last season when beating world number 10 Mark Allen on his way to the last 16.

The qualifiers start on April 7 in Sheffield with the Championships starting on April 17.

Former world champions Stephen Hendry and Jimmy White will meet in the first round of qualifying.

Perry is currently competing in the Snooker Championship in Milton Keynes. He claimed a shock 3-1 win over Neil Robertson yesterday (March 30) before losing 3-2 to Dave Gilbert and 3-1 to Yan Bingtao.

Perry is due to play Anthony McGill, Mark Williams and Kurt Maflin today in a quest for a play-off berth.
