Given the high pressure, high stakes nature of a League One play-off semi final first leg it was certainly a memorable performance, but there have been many other nights when Posh have dazzled under the London Road floodlights.
Here, the PT picks its top 10...
5. 6 - Posh 4, QPR 1
Stunning display from Barry Fry’s side in a 2001 Division Two match. QPR scored in the first five minutes, but were then swept aside by goals from Neale Fenn (2), David Farrell (pictured) and Leon McKenzie. Posh didn't win another league game for two and a half months! Photo: s
6. 5 - Posh 3, Crystal Palace 0
Posh lost the first leg of a 1983 League Cup tie against a side two divisions higher 3-0, but turned it around at home before winning on penalties. New signing Ray Hankin was brilliant and scored as did Colin Clarke and Trevor Quow. It helped having David Seaman (pictured) in goal for the penalty shootout as he saved three spot-kicks. 7. 4 - Posh 4, Sheffield Wednesday 0
Given the importance of the occasion, and the surprise nature of the scoreline, last Friday night has to be included. Jonson Clarke-Harris is pictured scoring the final goal. Photo: David Lowndes
8. 3 - Posh 2, MK Dons 0
A second leg play off match in 2011 which delivered the best atmosphere many have ever experienced at London Road. Posh had lost the first leg 3-2, but goals from Grant McCann and Craig Mackail-Smith sent Posh to an Old Trafford Final against Huddersfield which they won 3-0.
