The Peterborough Telegraph asked Peterborough United fans which current Posh players would thrive at Championship level shouold promotion from League One be achieved this season.

Here are your replies to @PTAlanSwann on Twitter...

Hard to say thrive, but players I’d want stepping up & playing 50%+ minutes are Nathan Thompson, Frankie Kent, Dan Butler, Joe Ward, Jack Taylor, Siriki Dembele, Sammie Szmodics and Jonson Clarke-Harris (although I’d sell JCH if the rumoured money on offer is true).

Christy Pym, Kent, Thompson, Taylor, Szmodics, JCH, Dembele and Ward would be okay.

Kent, Taylor, Ethan Hamilton, Szmodics and Dembele. Plus Ronnie Edwards and Harrison Burrows to bring on as they get older. Afraid I am not confident the rest are good enough other than as back up.

@Pie58uk

The back three, plus Taylor, Ward and Louis Reed would all thrive in the Championship. I have my doubts about Dembele and JCH at that level. Szmodics has the quality, but will need a bit of help with some more quality around him. He looks isolated at times when JCH has been marked out of games.

@Jinksy6

Most of the current starting team would be competitive. We would need to ship six or seven out and bring the same in. Dark horse to become a star if we go up? Step forward Ronnie Edwards.

@RutlandSpinner

Pym, JCH, Szmodics, Ryan Broom, Thompson, Taylor, Kent, Ward, Burrows, Mo Eisa and arguably Butler would be the only ones good enough.

@IsaacHeppell2

We’ll need a Steve Evans-esque summer if we go up!

If we went up I’d say we’d need five or six really good signings to have a team capable of staying in Championship. Kent, Thompson, Taylor, Szmodics, JCH and Dembele are probably the only ones who I’d say start in the Championship. Squad depth needs to improve massively also.

@Kyle_Irving1

Do you think JCH starts in the Championship? For me he isn’t mobile enough. Can’t fault his goal record, but I think we could cash in and get someone better. If what’s being reported is true and clubs are willing to pay £4 million for him, I’d let him go and bring in Stephen Humphreys from Rochdale who is much more mobile and has a good goal record when playing for the worst teams in League One. We would also need at least three central midfielders with experience.

@Liampufc

Players like Dembele, Smzodics, Ward and Burrows will definitely be better on a bigger pitch as they would have more space to dribble in.

@EspieJaz

Controversial, but for someone like Ward, bigger pitches means more space to cross. I think he’d easily step up.
