Peterborough United host Swindon Town in the first round of the EFL Cup on Tuesday night (August 8, 7:30pm).

Posh will be looking to make progress in the EFL Cup, a competition that Posh have not fared well in recent years.

Posh have only won one EFL Cup tie since 2016- that came 2-0 away at Plymouth Argyle last season. Posh were then knocked out 1-0 the following round by League Two Stevenage.

Swindon will get their season underway on Tuesday night after their season opener at Colchester was rained off on Saturday.

  • Posh have won one EFL Cup tie since 2016
  • Swindon’s season opener at Colchester was postponed on Saturday

Game stopped two sprinklers have come on!

Blake-Tracy doing well in this game. Playing wing back but popping up in central midfield plenty spraying passes.

Swindon ahve got back on top since the goal but Posh are dealing well with their spells on the ball.

Kioso makes a good block for a corner and Posh clear the ball away.

We might have just seen a Joel Randall goal finally.

Great through pass from Jones on the left of the box, Randall gets it, cuts inside and bends a shot into the far corner.

There’s a chance it might go down as an own goal coming of Hepburn-Murphy, hard to tell at the moment whether it was on target. I hope he keeps it!

First chance for Jones to get on a run, ball over the top from Edwards has him running into the final third but Hepburn-Murphy deals with him well and keeps up. Ricky ends up fouling him.

Austin closes down Bilokapic, the ball defelcts out to Godwin-Malife, sees a shot blocked by Crichlow but then is bundled over and Swindon have a free-kick on the left corner of the box.

The keeper catches the ball in at the near post.

Colleagues at Swindon tell us that this is pretty much Swindon’s best line-up. They’ve started well, looks like they are employing a wing back system.

There’s no fans at either end but Swindon make the sides change ends.
