Peterborough United will host League Two side Cheltenham Town in the first round of the Carabao Cup.

Cheltenham were knocked out of the League Two play-offs at the semi-final stage by Northampton Town last season despite winning the first leg 2-0 away from home.

Posh have never played Cheltenham in the League Cup, but did knock them out of the FA Cup 3-1 after extra time in a first round replay at Whaddon Road in 1996. Cheltenham were a non-league club then and drew 0-0 at London Road.

Cheltenham recently signed former Posh left-back Lewis Freestone.

The tie will take place on Saturday, September 5, providing neither club is affected by international call-ups.
