Peterborough United star nominated for an award

Peterborough United striker Ivan Toney has been nominated for League One’s player of the month for January.

Toney’s citation reads: ‘Made light of the burden of captaincy and constant transfer speculation by firing Posh back into form with four goals in six games, including two against promotion rivals Wycombe. His dynamic work ethic has led by example.’

Toney’s rivals for the award are Doncaster defender Tom Anderson, Portsmouth full-back Steve Seddon and Sunderland midfielder Chris Maguire.

The League One manager-of-the-month candidates for January are Kenny Jackett (Portsmouth), Darren Moore (Doncaster), Paul Warne (Rotherham) and Phil Parkinson (Sunderland).

The winners will be revealed on Friday (February 7).
