Oundle eased into the Jaidka Cup semi-finals with a five-wicket win over Market Deeping at Milton Road last night (June 21).

Despite a fine unbeaten 55 from captain Dave Gillett, Deeping’s 20-over total of 109-7 was never going to be sufficient against a team with an outstanding recent record in Twenty/20 cricket.

Pete Foster top scored with 42 for Oundle against Market Deeping.

Wily seamer Colin Ray and overseas player Riyaad Henry each took two wickets for Oundle with Jack Bolsover, Pete Wilson and Mark Hodgson picking up one apiece.

Oundle lost early wickets to Ali Sharp and Josh Smith, but a third-wicket partnership between Pete Foster (42) and Hodgson (31) enabled the home side to coast to victory with three-and-a-half overs to spare. For Deeping Dan George collected two wickets and executed the run out of Foster.

Oundle travel to Bourne in a semi-final yet to be scheduled.

The first semi-final takes place tonight (June 22) when Wisbech host Peterborough Town at Harecroft Road (6pm). The final is scheduled for June 29.

Town have promoted three second teamers to play tonight. First-team regulars Tim Young, Marcus Howard and Jamie Smith are unavailable so Twenty/20 specialist Richard Kendall, Scott Howard and Daniel Oldham step up.

Wisbech have fitness concerns over star all-rounder Gary Freear who is struggling with a hamstring strain.

Tomorrow (June 23) Barnack host Bourne in a Stamford Charity Cup semi-final. The second semi-final between Ketton and Market Deeping has yet to be scheduled so the final, which was due to take place at Stamford Town on Monday, June 27 has been delayed. A new date will be announced when the finalists are known.

Monday’s (June 20) Stamford KO Shield semi-finals between Ketton and Barnack, and Burghley Park and Ufford Park were both postponed because of rain.

Ketton will now take on Barnack on Monday, June 27, while Burghley and Ufford will meet on Wednesday, June 29. The final of the KO Shield is due to take place on Monday, July 11.

On Friday (June 24) Peterborough Town host Rushton in a delayed Northants Twenty/20 Cup first round match.

Busiest player this week will be Asim Butt who is playing for Cambs today before turning out for Peterborough Town on Wednesday and Friday, either side of a game for Barnack on Thursday!
