Calpin bagged 6-22 as Newborough fell short of Orton’s 171 despite 63 from opener David Cooper.

Earlier Andy Bennett had rescued the Orton innings with a well struck 75 batting at number seven.

In Division Two Uffington managed to lose to Belton Park despite a 252-run unbroken opening stand between Damien Herrick (131no) and Felix Cunningham (101no). Belton passed that total for the loss of four wickets,

Market Deeping seconds beat arch rivals Bourne seconds by 56 runs in a Premier Division clash at the Abbey Lawns. Veterans Chris Jones (68) and Dave Gillett (50) starred for Deeping who amassed 230-8 in their 45 overs.

Local big guns Bourne and Peterborough met in a pre-season friendly at the Abbey Lawns on Sunday (April 18) with the visitors winning a high-scoring game by five wickets. Captain David Clarke (91) and Josh Smith (80) top scored for Town with Jack Berry making 80 for Bourne.
