Jay Lake over at Rookery Waters has been producing very reasonable weights for this time of year and despite the drop in temperature it didn't disappoint those fishing the Saturday £1,000 Open qualifier.

Gavin Butler showed the rest of the field how to do it with a fine display of meat fishing on the long pole catching carp to 3lb to finish on 144lb 12 oz.

Runner-up from peg 23 was St Neots-based angler Tony Watling, who fished corn and pellet to catch small carp and F1s to just fall short of the 100lb.

In third place with 96lb 4oz was Sean Higginbottom.

In the Wednesday Over 60s Open fished on the Magpie Pool,Roger Abbott made no mistake from peg one, topping the field with 113lb 14oz.

Runner-up was Tony Dawson on 113lb 4oz, followed by John Millard with 97lb 14oz.

RAMSEY AS

Ramsey & District Angling Society fished on Magpie at Rookery on Saturday and found the fishery in good form.

Top rod was Josh Pace, who caught on sweetcorn and meat from peg one netting 135lb 4oz.

Runner-up with 123lb was Rob Hewison fishing meat, followed by Andrew Rayment on 110lb 8oz.
