Career is shaping up well

Sayeh put her radio presenting job on hold when daughter Soheyla came along four years ago.

And with time on her hands, the mum who did a drama and writing degree, got out some half finished stories and got to work on them.

After nearly a year of trying, Shaped Animals, her first book, is available in print and on Kindle ebook.

“It took 10 months to get this deal, but I got a lot of good feedback along the way.

“People did not want to take a risk because I was ‘new’, but there were a lot of positives and what I was pushing was different to what was on the shelves.

“Is a great way to enjoy learning and remembering maths and shapes through storytelling,” she said.

Sayeh’s “little adventure” as she puts it, was all down to her little girl coming along.

“I got out some old, half-finished stories and went through them.

“There are lots of books that deal with shapes, but do not necessarily explain what shapes are.

“In Shaped Animals we meet Triangle Tiger who goes on the search to find other shaped animal friends to join his party.

“On this adventure, you will get to learn about the four main basic shapes through the animals explaining and introducing themselves.”

It is suitable for children up to 10, she says, as it allows older readers to continue to learn about circumference and parallels.

Sayeh has been really chuffed with how the book has been received with some school visits on World Book Day lined up and a signing at Waterstones a possibility in the future.

“If it does well I hope to publish some other stories- and I have quite a lot of them,” she added.
