Police are warning about the current level of car thefts in a Peterborough ward.

Amanda Large, crime prevention officer in Peterborough, said: “We are continuing to get thefts from motor vehicles in the Sugar Way, Oundle Road and New Road areas of Woodston.

“Please make sure your vehicle is locked secure at all times. A few simple steps could reduce your chances of becoming a victim of vehicle crime.

“Remove valuables from sight, ideally by taking them with you.

“Some of the most popular items stolen by thieves are easy to access and portable such as Sat Navs, handbags, purses and wallets, tools, mobile phones, cash and laptops.

“Additional police are patrolling in the area. Please report any suspicious activity by calling 101.”

A police SOCO van was at Hammonds Drive, Fengate yesterday (Sunday, February 19).

A car on the road had been broken into between 4pm on Saturday the 18th and noon on Sunday the 19th.
