Peterborough’s Nene Valley Railway ‘devastated’ by virus impact
The steam attraction said it is concerned for its future as the upkeep of the trains and area can be extremely expensive.
Kim Shaw, acting general manager, said some parts for Thomas - one of the most popular locomotives - and other railway parts have to be specially manufactured and can cost thousands of pounds.

On her essential walk each day around the railway, Kim has been posting pictures of a plush toy swan and Thomas to remind everyone to stay in touch and show them the railway.
Kim said: “We started out as a dream 43 years ago - it’s quite a desolate place at the moment. This isn’t what any of us would have expected. We’ve gone through thick and thin together.
“Some of our volunteers are in their late seventies and eighties so to lose that social interaction is a real blow.”
