Arsonists torch Peterborough home

Extensive damage was caused to the house in Padholme Road, Peterborough.

Crews from Dogsthorpe, Stanground and Peterborough Volunteer Fire Brigade were called at 12.53pm to the blaze and found a two-storey property well alight.

Four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used hose reels and jets to extinguish the fire by 1.35pm.

They continued to dampen down until they returned to stations at 2.50pm.

The cause of the fire is deliberate.

A Cambridgeshire police spokesman said: “Police attended an address at about 12.50pm on Sunday (February 7) in Padholme Road, Peterborough.

“A fire at the address has been deemed deliberate.

“Enquiries are ongoing and no arrests have been made.”
