A Peterborough charity that works to provide ice skating classes for people with disabilities has been awarded £1,000 by Persimmon Homes.

Inspire Peterborough was selected by the housebuilder’s East Midlands business for the cash donation and say it will go towards their inclusive ice skating project which takes place at Planet Ice in the town.

The charity applied for funding via Persimmon Homes’ Community Champions initiative. The scheme began last year allowing charities and groups to apply for funding up to the value of £1,000 to match money they have already raised themselves.

Nikki Griffiths, Development Manager, said: “We help people with disabilities, life limiting, long term health conditions and additional needs to take part in sport and leisure activities inclusively with their friends, family and carers.

“We have run a successful Inclusive Ice Skating project for the last year, with 480 members now registered.”
