Whether they are making a final push for the university of their dreams or looking for high-quality apprenticeships or employment, the right environment, support, and teaching can ensure the final years of a student’s time at school are the best they can be.

Nene Park Academy, which is part of Meridian Trust, is encouraging young people, and parents, to explore the diverse curriculum and varied suite of qualifications they have to offer, so they can take the first steps in joining a successful, vibrant, and expanding sixth form.

Inspirational and specialised teaching

The academy has fostered a busy, diverse, and industrious community of professionals, who are all keen to make a difference to every student.

This year it continues to recruit to subjects such as music and drama in the highly valued sector of performing arts, as well as offering a vast array of A Level and BTEC qualifications.

Students at NPA can benefit from inspirational, specialised teaching with small class sizes and a flexible timetable, enabling them to follow either traditional A Levels, or a combination of both A Level and Vocational Level 3 qualifications.

Alongside academic or vocational study, the sixth form enrichment programme provides a breadth of experiences for continued personal development, supporting students to emerge as confident young adults, prepared for the world they will eventually enter.

An array of specialist facilities

A period of work experience is encouraged in Year 12 to enhance workplace skills, in preparation for what can be some of the most daunting steps in life. Students are treated as individuals, demonstrated through the Academic Mentoring system, where students' future aspirations are recognised and supported by highly skilled staff.

This monitoring and guidance runs alongside full immersion into the academy’s house system giving youngsters the best pastoral and academic support, in what is probably the most important two years of their educational career.

The academy also hosts an array of specialist facilities, from purpose-built drama studios, performance spaces, and rehearsal rooms for those interested in performing arts, to high-specification IT solutions, a fully equipped salon, and specialist sixth form science labs.

Its sporting facilities are also second to none, including a domed indoor football astro and a fully equipped gym.

Proven track record of success

NPA provides dedicated study and collaborative learning spaces for students within their brand new sixth form centre, library, and sixth form café. The new centre also has a small office space, as well as open plan study areas which can be used by students to complete independent learning or coursework.

The academy has a proven track record of success - over 60 percent of students applied to university last year, all of which were accepted, many into top Russell Group universities.

It’s not all about university, however! Some students go on to study higher degree apprenticeships or into the world of employment - a great example of this being those who went on to work at KPMG, the NHS, and Peterborough United.
