Peterborough Jobcentre opens up at its new home
The jobcentre has moved from Broadway into the Town Hall after city council staff transferred into new offices at the Fletton Quays development on Peterborough’s South Bank.
Renovations, which were expected to cost £2.4 million, have been carried out at the south side of the building so the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) could move in.

The DWP was due to pay £734,000.
Asked yesterday how much the move will cost the DWP, a spokeswoman said: “The figures are ‘commercial in confidence’.”
Julia Nix, East Anglia Jobcentre district manager, said: “The move to the Peterborough council premises provides an excellent opportunity for the DWP to work closer with our partners, while providing customers with access to the full range of jobcentre and local authority services under the same roof.
“Sharing the same space and facilities also provides best value for local taxpayers.”

The service centre processes Income Support and Employment and Support Allowance claims.
The jobcentre will continue to provide the same services as before, including interventions with work coaches and job search facilities, as well as access to the internet to look for work.
The site will also continue to take new claims to Jobseeker’s Allowance.
