The Cedars hosts a Vintage Tearoom for the Barchester Foundation

Residents and guests at The Cedars Care Home in Bourne enjoyed an elegant afternoon of tea tasting and cakes to raise money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation. Based on the incredible Betty’s Tearooms in Harrogate, the pop up café included sampling a selection of different teas, including floral and fruity, loose leaf, traditional and flowering teas; accompanied by wonderfully fresh baked scones with jam, cream and strawberries and a selection of delicious cakes and pastries, all handmade by the hospitality team.

There was much laughter and many compliments on the day. Visitors and residents loved the vintage tea room, and the traditional serving outfits worn by the team. The room was decorated with a variety of floral arrangements in the conservatory to create a Victorian orangery vibe and a selection of beautiful vintage crockery with background music from Glen Miller completed the ambiance. ‘It’s so lovely- the coffee cups are wonderful!’ said Doreen, whilst Eileen was very happy reminiscing about the patterned china, as her grandmother had the same set. The afternoon was made complete with a dance from resident Peter; who received an ovation from his delighted audience.

Rebecca Aldred, Senior General Manager at The Cedars Care Home said: “Everyone at The Cedars was keen to show support for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation. It is a great cause that helps many people in need, particularly lonely older people, which is a cause very close to the hearts of all our staff and residents. Thank you to everyone who donated!”

Barchester’s Charitable Foundation supports older people and other adults living with a disability or mental health problems by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities. For more information please visit www.bhcfoundation.org.uk
