Residents at local care home touched by live music performance

Residents and guests at The Cedars care home in Bourne enjoyed a heartfelt afternoon of smiles. A live acoustic performance filled the room with an atmospheric vibe that left us lost for words. Local duo, Joel and Lauren, a guitarist and cellist respectively, performed a beautifully lyrical and immersive set.

It was incredible to see and feel how the classical pieces affected everyone, from Bach’s “Ave Maria” to Camille Saint-Saens “The Swan” and when “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” was played, instinctively voice after voice joined in. When Leonard Cohen’s “Hallelujah” was played and the residents asked how it made them feel, resident Anne Miller said, “it made my heart turn over”.

Senior General Manager, Rebecca Aldred said, “Our residents and guests had a wonderful afternoon, the power of music never ceases to amaze me. We do our best to provide a wide range of entertainment at The Cedars as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this one resonated with everyone!”

One of the residents very eloquently said “It’s something quite extraordinary to close your eyes and hear classical instruments played so beautifully in the room you are sitting in!”
