Peterborough nursery praised by Ofsted for “warm and welcoming” care and confident children
A nursery in Peterborough is celebrating after receiving a ‘strong standard’ outcome in its latest Ofsted inspection, with inspectors praising its nurturing environment and confident, curious children.

Ashbourne Day Nurseries at Orton Southgate was recognised for creating a setting where children feel safe, secure and eager to learn.
Inspectors described the nursery as “warm and welcoming,” highlighting how children quickly settle into purposeful play and form strong bonds with staff. The report noted that children are “confident, show curiosity and are willing to have a go,” with a clear enthusiasm for learning through activities like sensory play, creative exploration and outdoor experiences.

The nursery’s inclusive approach was also commended, with tailored support helping every child thrive, including those with additional needs. As a result, children are “very well prepared for starting school.”
Strong relationships with families were another standout feature. Parents benefit from regular updates on their child’s progress, and inspectors found they “feel valued and respected,” with many praising the support and guidance provided by staff.
Kerry Crowther, the Nursery Manager said: “We’re just so proud of what we’ve built here. It’s such a lovely place to be every day. The children are happy, they feel safe, and you can see how much they enjoy learning, that’s always been the most important thing to us. I’m over the moon to be able to show that what we’re doing is working really well.”
