The visit held particular significance for the High Sheriff, who attended Walton Infant School and Walton Junior School and lived locally as a child. Returning to the area provided an opportunity to reflect on how both the community and local schools have developed over the years.

During his visit, the High Sheriff spent time speaking with pupils about his life, career and the journey that led to his appointment as Northamptonshire's representative. Children listened with great interest as he explained the wide-ranging responsibilities of the role, including supporting the justice system, visiting charities and community organisations, and recognising the dedication of those who serve the public, particularly members of the emergency services.

Pupils were especially fascinated to learn that the High Sheriff is appointed by the King and acts as His Majesty's representative within Northamptonshire. The visit prompted thoughtful questions from children, who were eager to learn more about community leadership and public service.

Staff and pupils alike described the visit as both informative and inspiring, providing valuable insight into an important civic role while encouraging children to think about how they can make a positive contribution to their own communities.

Michelle Siequien, Headteacher of Discovery Primary Academy, part of the Four Cs Trust, said: "We were honoured to welcome the High Sheriff to our academy. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about his experiences and the important role he plays within Northamptonshire. It was wonderful for them to hear first-hand about public service, leadership and giving back to the community. We are extremely grateful that he took the time to visit us and inspire our pupils. I would also like to thank the High Sheriff of Cambridgeshire for giving his blessing for this visit to take place outside of Northamptonshire, making this special opportunity possible for our children."

The academy would like to thank the High Sheriff for sharing his experiences and for helping to make the visit such a memorable occasion for everyone involved.
