Care home resident enjoys trip to local garden centre
Bayleaf Care Home in Huntingdon shared a memorable moment with one of their residents as they went on a very special trip to their local garden centre.

John Evans is one of the newest members of the Bayleaf Care Home dementia community. A proud and distinguished military man, he is fondly referred to at the home by his military nickname, ‘Basha’—a name that reflects the strength and pride he carries with him.
General Manager at Bayleaf Care Home, Katie Wilkinson and Team Leader Sally Archer joined ‘Basha’ at the Blue Diamond Garden Centre in nearby Hartford, where they took in the beautiful floral displays, fed the giant fish in the aquarium, and enjoyed some refreshments.

General Manager Katie Wilkinson said: “Like many people moving into residential care, Basha’s transition has been an emotional journey for both him and those who care about him. Over the past few weeks, however, we’ve started to see something truly special—a sparkle returning to his eyes and a smile that says more than words ever could. It may have seemed like a simple outing, but for Basha it represented so much more. It was a moment of joy, connection, and confidence as he continues his new chapter with all of us at Bayleaf.”
