Peterborough composer Joanna releases latest orchestra piece
Local composer Joanna Borrett’s new string orchestra piece - Rebellion - has just been released and can now be listened to on all digital channels.
Rebellion is a three movement concerto grosso, with violin and cello soloists. It’s the second of three of Joanna’s string orchestra pieces that are being promoted this year by Signum Records.

Joanna’s earlier work - Then - came out in April and was immediately chosen to be on Spotify’s New Classical playlist and has already been played several times on Radio 3. And Interlude is set to be released in October.
Rebellion is about conflict. Joanna says: “I spent a year studying cello in the former Soviet Union and perhaps that’s why I had Alexander Solzhenitsyn’s books in my head when I was composing this piece. But the conflict in the music could also be about the way life can be sometimes, even if you’re not living under an authoritarian regime.”
The music is available through Joanna’s website joannaborrett.com
