Peterborough bands needed for Met Lounge's ‘Everywhere At Once’ Festival

Peterborough’s Met Lounge is on the lookout for local bands to help fill three nights of live music at the venue next month as part of a national initiative.

Original bands are needed to finish off the line up for the ‘Everywhere At Once’ Festival which is taking place in more than 500 grass roots music venues across the country over the weekend of June 26-28 - the weekend that Glastonbury would have taken place if it were not taking a year off.

“We’re trying to put together three nights of different music genres at The Met,” said owner Steve Jason

“Friday (26th) will be the more ‘indie/guitar gig with local band Modern Haze headlining. On Saturday the genre is more pop/punk with Hound & The Winonas on the show and on Sunday it’ll be more acoustic solo/duo orientated.

“Now we could have filled the bill with out of town bands – we’ve had enough applying for the slots – but we wanted to keep it more local to give the new bands who find it hard to get shows a chance and to also try and raise the interest amongst local people in actually coming out and seeing original live music.”

Steve added: “As someone said recently on a social media post – ‘You can go and see a covers band in a pub any day over the weekend but without new bands making new music then eventually the cover bands will run out of new songs to cover.

"If we want Peterborough to be taken seriously as a music city then it’s done by supporting original live music.”

So, any local original bands – they just need a 30 minute set of 6-8 original songs – who think they fit the bill should email Steve at [email protected] asap.
