How young performers can win a place on the Cresset stage

Audition opportunities take place next month for young performers across two major 2026 productions - The Cresset’s Christmas pantomime Peter Pan, produced by Second Star Productions, and the annual musical The Wizard of Oz.

Following the success of last year’s annual musical - Charlie & The Chocolate Factory – the theatre is once again opening its doors to young talent aged 9-18, offering the chance to take part in a high- quality live production, from principal roles to large-scale ensemble performances.

For The Wizard of Oz musical, young performers are invited to attend ensemble auditions on Wednesday, May 6 or Thursday, May 7.

Those wishing to be considered for principal roles must also submit a self-tape by May 3.

Adult performers (18+) are required to submit a self-tape only at this stage, with selected candidates invited to recall auditions.

Rehearsals for the production will begin in May, with performances at The Cresset from October 7-10.

For the 2026 pantomime Peter Pan, young performers can apply for featured roles via self-tape submission, with shortlisted applicants invited to attend in-person recalls on Sunday, May 17 (by invitation only). Successful performers must be available for rehearsals from November and for the full performance run from December 12-31, including some daytime commitments.

Auditions for the pantomime’s youth ensemble and dance team will take place separately in September.

Auditions are free to attend, and both productions provide an exciting platform for young people to develop their skills, build confidence, and gain valuable experience performing on stage.
