Hooray for Bollywood as dance returns to Peterborough
Peterborough arts and culture organisation Jumped Up Theatre is bringing Bollywood dance to the city with a fresh term of classes starting this month.
Every year, Jumped Up Theatre partners with Shiamak Midlands (part of the international Shiamak brand) to bring Bollywood dance classes to Peterborough. Running twice a year, each term culminates in a live performance amongst other Shiamak dancers from across the region.

Classes are open to all abilities, whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced dancer.
Above all, the classes promise joy, fitness – whether you are looking to try something new or reconnect with your love of dance – and the chance to be part of a dance community.

Instructor for the classes is Rianna, who has been a part of Shiamak since 2012, starting as a pre-teen. She has trained in various styles including Bollywood, Hip-Hop, Ballet, Contemporary, Afro, and Jazz, and holds qualifications in Kathak, becoming an instructor for Shiamak Midlands in 2022.
She's performed in shows across the UK and has had the opportunity to perform internationally as well.
Dance has been a big part of her life, and she's looking forward to sharing that passion with the Peterborough team!
Classes are open to all aged 12+ (under 16s must be accompanied by an adult) and take place at the Bharat Hindu Samaj Mandir, Rock Road, on Thursdays from 6:30pm - 7:30pm. Dates are: April: 23, 30; May: 7, 14, 21; June: 4, 11, 18, 25; and July: 2
Performances will take place on July at the end of term national Shiamak Summer Funk in Coventry, and on July 19 at Jumped Up Theatre’s Community Dance Day at The Key Theatre.
