Comedy legend and award-winning writer head for Stamford
BAFTA award-winning writer and producer turned poet, Henry Normal and comedy legend Nigel Planer are back on the road – and are performing at the Corn Exchange in Stamford on October 16.
Henry and Nigel first toured together in the early 90s and reunited in 2023 when they teamed up to create an evening of poetry and comedy that has been winning over audiences across the country ever since.
This show will bring poetry to the people and showcase their newest work as well as more classic material from their impressive back catalogue.
Henry’s career spans over 40 years and includes writing and producing some of the country’s best loved and critically acclaimed TV programmes and films.

He has toured with his ever-evolving poetry show constantly since retiring from TV and Film production. In his own distinctive style, Henry’s show finds fun in the familiar, humour in the everyday and poignancy in the pitfalls of modern life. It is a show about love, life and family that is as deeply moving as it is funny and often both at the same time. Henry has 15 poetry books in print including the latest collection “A Moonless Night’.
Nigel is a critically-acclaimed British actor, writer, and musician. Best known for his roles as Neil in the BBC 1980s comedy The Young Ones and Ralph Filthy in Filthy Rich & Catflap, Nigel will be bringing his lesser-known but just as prolific poetic talent to the stage. His poetry has been published in the Guardian and in numerous anthologies, as well as the 1997 collection Unlike the Buddha.
