Yaxley teenager is a two-time British mountain bike champion and now she's set her sights on World Cup wins

The 19 year-old won a short course Elite Female event after an incredibly long and powerful sprint saw her claim a first National title.

She followed that up later in the weekend by winning an Under 23 Cross Country Olympic race by a massive margin of close to five minutes, the biggest margin of victory over the entire Championships.

Jackson said: “I`ve been racing for seven years now, starting out on the national scene and gradually working my way into international competition. It hasn`t been a straight line - like most athletes I`ve had my fair share of learnings, setbacks and slow progression before breakthroughs came. This year everything I`ve been building for finally clicked.

“British titles are a goal I’d been chasing since I first started racing seriously. On top of that I also found myself properly competitive at the front of World Cup fields for the first time, highlighted in a seventh place finish at the La Thuile World Cup, my best World Cup result to date. Going into this season this kind of result felt a long way off - so to actually achieve this has been a huge confidence boost and has sparked a new kind of belief in myself of what I can do at this level.

“Now I have the chance to end my season exactly where I want, at the final two World Cups of the year, in Soldier Hollow, Utah and Lake Placid, New York. It will be my first time competing outside of Europe against the best in the world.

“Racing in the USA isn`t just about finishing the season strongly, Every World Cup race gives me a clearer picture of what I need to improve and what`s possible for me and I want to go into next year with the belief that I can consistently fight for results at this level.”

Jackson has set up a go fund me page to help finance her trips to the States. You can find it here.
