The Royals family celebrated their 10th birthday with two strong displays in Women's American Football League.
The Peterborough Royals Women’s American Football team have celebrated their 10th anniversary.
The city side completed 10 years of competitive action with two matches in the National Women’s 7-a-side League at their Peterborough Lions Rugby Union Club base in Bretton Park last Saturday.

The Royals saw off Newcastle Shieldmaidens 19-0 in their first game before losing a tight game 13-7 to Cheshire Bears. They controlled the first match from start to finish thanks to disciplined defence and clinical attacking play with quarterback Vicki Lucas and wide receiver Becca Charles-Myers claiming touchdowns.
The second match was keenly contested throughout with the Royals, as usual, performing with plenty of spirit. Liv McGettigan scored the Royals touchdown in this game.

The results proved the competitive nature of the division as Royals are next to bottom of 6 teams with 1 win in 4 matches, while Cheshire are second with 3 wins and 1 loss.
Players, coaches and supporters gathered to mark the milestone match, reflecting on a decade of progress while looking ahead to the future with optimism.
The anniversary tournament demonstrated that the Peterborough Royals continue to be a competitive and ambitious side. The club started life at Stanground Academy in 2016 before moving to Bretton in 2019. They are 2-time winners of Division One East in the National League.
The Royals are next in action in July in at Druid Park in Newcastle when the Shieldmaidens and the Bears will again provide the opposition.
