Peterborough City rowers showed class and mettle at the National Watersports Centre after a weekend of two halves!
Peterborough City Rowing Club (PCRC) proved their mettle at the National Watersports Centre, Holme Pierrepont as they navigated a weekend of two halves.
Saturday’s 2,000m racing in the Nottingham City Regatta took place under glorious sunshine, allowing for clean, powerful performances across the long course.

However, Sunday’s 1,000m sprints in the Masters & Club Regatta were a different story, as the weather turned to provide difficult strong cross wind conditions.
The Saturday racing saw PCRC find success in both small and large boats under clear skies. The Men’s coxless 4 crew of James Marshall, Joe Haracz, Josh Seagrave, and Chris Elder put in a commanding performance, winning the club event and taking the win in the A Final.

In the single sculls, Eleanor Dean delivered a sterling performance in the Women’s single sculls, winning the club event after a strong showing in the A Final.
Toby Ray showed great speed in the Men’s Lightweight single scull, placing second in the lightweight category and winning the B Final. James Plumb also qualified for the Men’s Club 1x D final.
The Women’s 4 (Sarah Watson, Bianca Manganiello, Gina Gould, and Claire Widdowson) also impressed, navigating a tough time trial to earn a spot in the B Final, where they delivered a strong performance against a competitive field.
On Sunday the Men’s double scull of Matthieu Guttinger and Thomas Dray led from the start and held their nerve to secure a hard-fought win in choppy conditions.

That same tenacity was mirrored by the Men’s 4+. Coxed by men’s captain Tom Calver, the crew of Will Ryder, Austin Tyley, Dray, and Guttinger pushed through to take the victory in the final strokes.
The Masters squad also enjoyed good performances with Ian Palmer enjoyed a hat-trick of wins in composite crews in the Mens Masters B/C 4x, Mens Masters D 2x and Mixed Masters B/C 4x.
Beyond the wins, the day was defined by the squad’s impressive consistency. PCRC secured second-place finishes across a wide range of events.
