PACTRAC trio Baker, Lomas and Miles secure age-group victories at St Neots

There were age-group wins for three PACTRAC athletes at the Active Training World Triathlon event that was staged in St Neots on Saturday.

Rachel Baker, Harriet Lomas and Verity Miles all secured first places, with two other PACTRAC competitors, Mike King and Stuart Neal, also impressing.

Miles was age-group winner in the Half Ironman Aquabike event (swim, bike), finishing 24th overall (41:08 + 3:40:58 = 4:22:06).

Baker was successful in the Standard Distance event, finishing 11th overall (25:16 + 1:22:25 + 43:14 = 2:30:55), while Harriet Lomas was an age-group winner in the Sprint, finished 25th overall (15:13 + 51:49 + 25:47 = 1:32:49).

Neal also completed in the Sprint, and was fifth in age-group and 44th overall (15:58 + 51:40 + 32:00 = 1:39:38).

King took on the Half Ironman Distance and finished 71st overall, and 11th in his age-group (37:59 + 2:57:27 + 2:15:13 = 5:50:39).

Former PACTRAC athlete Jonathan Oakey, who is now racing on the Elite circuit, won a bronze medal in the Irish National Sprint Triathlon Championships in 57:32.

Oakey led out of the 750-metre swim with a clear nine-second gap to the next competitor, with only three athletes within 30-seconds of him.

Oakey then worked with the second placed athlete on the bike and they came in together just over 20-seconds ahead of the next athlete.

By now, these were the only three athletes in contention and Oakey had a good 17:08 minute 3.1 mile run, but had to settle for third spot and a bronze medal. Oakey's split was 9:40 + 30:43 + 17:08 = 57:31.

PACTRAC ace Katie Tasker finished 56th and second lady overall in the Standard Distance London Triathlon.

With more than 1,500 athletes competing, including 455 ladies, Tasker won her Age Group convincingly.

Her split was 23:58 + 69:36 + 46:48 = 2:25:17.
