Luke sees off Legends Snooker Tour debutant to win yet another title

Luke Simmonds defeated Legends Snooker Tour debutant Dave Jobling 2-0 in the final to win the £600 first prize and lift the Champions Trophy at the city's Broadway Club on Sunday.

Simmonds secured his fourth title success in the past nine months, only dropping one frame throughout a high quality day's play that saw him oust local star Graham Bradford 3-0 and Ipswich's former Six Reds and Masters Cup winner Paul Sparrow 3-1, before overcoming Harvey Chandler, who was a late replacement for veteran Vaughan Lutkin in the last four, hitting the highest break of the tournament with a magnificent 131 clearance.

Chandler also scored a century in his opening round victory over Steve Martin. Collecting £300 as runner-up, Jobling saw his superior matchplay overcome Gary Norman, Martyn Witton and Courtney Symons, before falling short in his clash with Simmonds.

Next stop is the Players Championship in October, where the race continues to secure a place in the lucrative end-of-year Legends League.
