Soar had beaten county tennis and padel champion Mike Tolman 11-6, 11-8, 8-11, 11-5 in his semi-final. He’s now entered the competition three times and won on every occasion.

Mark Davies of March was runner-up in the over 50s competition. Tim Millington, a club mate of Soar’s, took part in the over 60s competition, but didn’t make the finals.
