City gymnast claims his second silver medal of the World Championships

City gymnast Jake Jarman has claimed his second silver medal of the weekend at the World Champions in Rotterdam.

The 24 year-old from Gunthorpe added vault silver on Sunday to the floor silver he won on Saturday. He is now one of the most decorated GB gymnasts at World Championship events with five medals.

Jarman was beaten into second place today by Armenian Artur Davtyan who posted a 14.850 average for his two vaults. Jarman’s average score was 14.650 with Norwegian Sebastian Sponevik securing bronze with 14.366

Jarman had just failed to defend his world floor title in Rotterdam on Saturday as he was pipped into second place by Frederick Richard from the United States by a margin of just 0.333 points.

The 24 year-old went last and delivered a superb, high tariff routine packed with huge twisting tumbling passes which he controlled excellently, to score 14.600 points, but it was only good enough for silver.

Jarman has previously won vault gold in 2023 and a team bronze in 2022 to go with his floor gold in 2025

"I can't be annoyed although it's not the result I was aiming for," Jarman said after the floor competition. "To know that I could do a bit better and yet I've still walked away with a world silver gives me a lot of confidence, and there's room for improvement, so overall I'm really happy.

"It was a stacked final and we all really pushed each other. It was good fun to be a part of and I'm excited for more battles in the future."

GB teammates Courtney Tulloch, 31, was also the final competitor in the men's rings final, where a stumble on landing his dismount cost marks as he finished seventh with a score of 13.366.
