Mees breaks barrier
Local athlete Daniel Mees broke through the 1:50 barrier at the weekend as he lowered his 800m personal best for the third time in as many weeks.
The 19-year-old Newham & Essex Beagle, who trains with Peterborough Athletics Club’s endurance group, was racing in the B final at the British Milers’ Club Grand Prix in Stretford, Manchester.
England international Dominic Walton won it in 1:49.46 with Mees taking second place in 1:49.84.
