Super Sam’s unusual hat-trick as Ramsey tame the Rowdies and a Cambs Womens and Girls League round-up as Sasha scores five

Ramsey Colts Under 13 player Sam Buckland was a hat-trick hero at the weekend...but not in the way you might expect.

Super Sam, who also plays for Nene Valley in the Peterborough & District Junior Alliance League, is a goalkeeper and he saved three penalties in a Hunts Youth League game at Huntingdon Town Rowdies.

They were crucial stops as well as Ramsey’s winning margin was 3-1. Ashton Stevens,George Buckle and Thomas Jenkins scored the Ramsey goals.

The Hunts Youth League is set to complete their season rather than switch to cup competitions like most other leagues have done.

The Cambs Womens and Girls Leagues are also to be played to a conclusion and there were a handful of games played over the Easter weekend.

Second-placed Whittlesey lost their Premiership game after a hard-fought tussle against Ketton at Feldale Field. Beth Goodman and Fran Kavanagh scored the goals for Ketton who are now fourth. Lorna Hart replied for Whittlesey.

Under 18 leaders ICA Sports made light work of their enforced lay-off as they returned to action with a 12-3 win at Haverhill Rovers.

Top scorer Sasha Tristram cracked five goals with Nicole Hendrick and Chelsea Burr bagging hat-tricks. Grace Spencer completed the scoring. Tristram now has 19 goals in just five outings and Burr has 15 goals.

Peterborough United girls moved up to second in the Under 16A League after a 2-1 win over Eynesbury Rovers at Stamford AFC. Georgia Coram and Claudia Harlow scored for Posh.

There was a big game in the under 13 division as two sides who hadn’t dropped a point clashed.

And it was Leverington Sports who came out on top of a Fenland derby, 1-0 at March Academy.

Netherton United Ladies warmed up for their return to Premiership action with an 11-1 friendly win over Championship side Cardea.

Yasmin Green claimed a hat-trick, while Megan Stickland and Emily Johnson scored twice apiece.

Jess Perrin, Jenna Nairn, Gemma Holloway and Sasha Haw also netted for Netherton who travel to Cambridge City for a league match on Sunday.
