Parkside Athletic Football Club has submitted an application to the city council for Bushfield Leisure Centre at Bushfield in Orton Goldhay.

According to the application, the clubhouse would be “for use by local sports clubs and wider use by the community”.

It would be built on council-owned grass near existing pitches, by the current changing rooms, and would have “café-like facilities for use by sports people for up to 60 people for occasional use”.

A similar application was submitted in late 2019 but was withdrawn.

In a letter to the council in support of the latest plans, club chairman Adrian Parrish states: “I have been in contact with the Football Foundation and, indirectly, with the English cricket board, both of whom support this application, in principle, subject to local authority permission.”
