As Ferguson only resigned 11 months ago, the majority of the players were brought to the club by him. In fact, given Posh’s tendency to return to previous managers, there are no players in the squad that were not brought to the club by either Darren Ferguson or Grant McCann!
Below the Peterborough Telegraph takes a look at the relationships between Ferguson and the current Posh squad and how each player is likely to fair.

17. KWAME POKU
Did Fergie sign him? Yes from Colchester in summer 2021. Did he play? Ferguson signed Poku as a project to develop and one day replace Siriki Dembele. It turned out that he would have to do that the following January, which was perhaps too soon. Ferguson used him sporadically before his resignation, but did unlock some of his finest performances in a Posh shirt to date, particularly Birmingham away. Ferguson shoud be pleased to see how much Poku has developed in his absence and it would be a major shock if he didn't play a big part in the rest of the season. Photo: Joe Dent

18. JOE WARD
Did Fergie sign him? No McCann in January 2018. This was a McCann signing first time around, but what a signing it was. Ferguson recognised that and unlocked Ward as an assist-machine who was also handy for plenty of goals. He was only ever used as a full-back in real emergencies and will surely look to find a role for Ward further up the field. One wonders if the previous regime's desire to turn him into a right-back are what slowed down a new contract being signed? Ferguson is sure to pick him, but there's also a chance he could leave in January as he's out of contract at the end of the current season. Photo: Joe Dent

19. EPHRON MASON-CLARK
Did Fergie sign him? No. McCann in summer 2022 from Barnet. A summer signing that McCann appears to have been right to see potential in. His pace, power and direct running should endear him to the new boss, as long as he can sharpen up his finishing. Photo: Joe Dent

20. RICKY-JADE JONES
Did Fergie sign him? No. Jones came through the youth ranks and has been hampered by injuries during his time at the club. He appears to be getting over those now but Ferguson was restricted in how much he could use him and a lot of the time it was as an impact substitute from the bench. He is a player Ferguson knows well and may benefit from that, but the new boss might prefer more reliable and consistent forward players. Photo: Joe Dent
