As Ferguson only resigned 11 months ago, the majority of the players were brought to the club by him. In fact, given Posh’s tendency to return to previous managers, there are no players in the squad that were not brought to the club by either Darren Ferguson or Grant McCann!
Below the Peterborough Telegraph takes a look at the relationships between Ferguson and the current Posh squad and how each player is likely to fair.

9. NATHAN THOMPSON
Did Fergie sign him? Yes, Thompson was unattached after leaving Portsmouth in summer 2019. Did he play? Thompson has had his injury problems, but was a star performer for Posh in League One. He was also deployed at times in the middle of a back three and as he gets older, Ferguson could make use of him there again, especially if Edwards did leave. He will be one of the ones glad to see Ferguson back, as he had fallen out of favour with McCann, and will be glad to hear him not 100 percent committing himself to the plans of the previous regime to bring in a couple of full-backs. 10. KELL WATTS
Did Fergie sign him? No. McCann on loan from Newcastle in summer 2022. Watts had just found favour with McCann towards the end of his time and Ferguson obviously liked what he saw given that he made the call to extend the loan got the rest of the season. He appears to be a player in a similar mould to Mark Beevers, who Ferguson had so much success with in League One last time, so could find favour with Ferguson too now he starts to get into a rhythm after his big knee injury. 11. JEANDO FUCHS
Did Fergie sign him? Yes from Dundee United in January 2022. Did he play? Fuchs arrived right at the end of the last January transfer window and Ferguson only managed six games after Fuchs joined before he left himself. Ferguson must rate him having brought him to London Road so the tough-tackler can expect to play. Photo: Joe Dent

12. OLIVER NORBURN
Did Fergie sign him? Yes from Shrewsbury in summer 2021. Did he play? It's not often a player is brought in to be captain, but Ferguson had that much faith in Norburn. He even went as far as to say he would be one of the best-ever signings he's made for the club. He stuck with him as captain despite the pressure the player had applied to try and force a move to Blackpool in the January after joining. Norburn has been absent since the end of March with knee ligament damage, but if fully fit Ferguson would probably play him. Photo: Joe Dent
